In this course we will explore what we mean when we say that something is traumatic. We will look into how and why something becomes traumatic, and how it is mediated psychologically. We will look at the neuroscience understanding of traumatic states along with the phenomena of dissociation and repression in the mediating of it. The implications for treatment follow from these understandings.
