Psychotherapy Psychotherapy Program (PPP). The Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program
(PPP) of the Oregon Psychoanalytic Center is a two year certificate program
in adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy. It is dinstinct from training in
adult psychoanalysis in that it focuses solely on the practice of psychotherapy.
The PPP is a series of integrated seminars, clinical case conferences,
individual case supervision, and personal therapy. Faculty and supervisors
are senior psychoanalytic psychotherapists or psychoanalysts, and members
of the Oregon Psychoanalytic Center.
Format & Schedule.

Class size is limited to foster in-depth discussion of clinical
material and
focused learning. Developing class cohesion and collaboration is a
high priority.

Requirements of the Program.
Supervision
Clinical supervision enhances the classroom experience and deepens the
development of clinical skills. Participants are required to start at
least one twice-weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy case, as well as present
another, at least weekly case, during the program. Cases will be supervised
by a member of the faculty.
Psychoanalytic Treatment
A personal experience of a psychoanalytic treatment, through either twice
weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy or "on-the-couch" psychoanalysis,
is of enormous value to clinicians in promoting self-awareness and deepening
learning. Past or current treatment is a requirement for the program.
Eligibility for the Program
The certificate program is open to mental health professionals from the
disciplines of psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling and psychiatric
nursing. All participants must be licensed in the state of Oregon and
carry malpractice insurance for their psychotherapy practices.
Tuition & Fees
Tuition is $2,000 per year. There is an annual administrative fee of $100.
There is a non-refundable, one-time application fee of $50. Supervision
fees are negotiated privately with the supervisor.

An application form can be obtained here or by calling the Oregon Psychoanalytic Center at 503-229-0175. The next class will begin September 2009. Applications may be submitted anytime prior to May 1, 2009; they will be accepted in the order in which they are received.
A Prelude to Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training
Fall 2008
Description: This series of eight monthly sessions is designed to meet the needs of both those clinicians who know they want to apply to the 2009 Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program class and those individuals who would like to learn more about the program before applying. These sessions will have a clinical focus and will provide an opportunity for participants to hear and discuss case material and to present case material if they wish. Sessions will be structured around a key clinical or theoretical concept and will include some readings. The sessions will be taught and facilitated by members of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program faculty. Participation in the entire sequence of courses is necessary to promote class cohesion and clinical continuity. Class size will be limited.
Dates: 8 sessions from 7 to 8:30 pm on the fourth Monday of the month – Sept 22, Oct 27, Nov 24, 2008 and Jan 26, Feb 23, Mar 22, Apr 27, May 25, 2009.

Fee: $300
Requirements: Participants must meet the minimum requirements to apply to the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program. These requirements are: licensure by the State of Oregon in one of the mental health disciplines and proof of malpractice insurance. The class is open to clinicians with all levels of background and experience.
Those students who have already applied to the 2009 Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy class will be given preference for admission to this class (see above). They will also receive a 10 per cent discount. All other applications will be considered in the order submitted.
