Course Description: As psychodynamic therapists, it is our job to
identify and manage the intense feelings that surface when we work with our
patients. Transference based treatment requires that we actively engage wi
th negative, positive, sexualized, and eroticized transferences. Learning h
ow to work with the transference is a large part of our training.
Thi s course examines improperly managed erotic/sexual transferences and counte rtransferences as well as other factors that contribute to sexual boundary violations in therapy. Numerous studies related to transgressions in therap y will be presented. A large part of the content will be based on the writi ngs of Andrea Celneza, PhD and the studies she has compiled on this topic.< /p>
The course is open to all disciplines of therapists (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, counselors) wh o practice psychodynamically. The course is also open to practitioners who are not trained to work in the transference but would like to learn more ab out this.
