Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program (PPP)The PPP offers advanced psychoanalytic psychotherapy training to clinicians of varying disciplines, backgrounds, and practice settings. This program aims to help students develop an analytic approach to therapy by listening, observation, interpretation, and intervention, focusing on both conscious and unconscious processes, countertransference, and transference. Classroom learning translates to clinical practice as the therapeutic relationship is explored and better understood. Students will learn psychoanalytic theory, including self-psychology, relational theory, attachment theory, object relations theory, drive theory, and ego psychology. Diversity of thought, identity, and experience are welcomed and encouraged within the classroom to deepen case discussion and didactic learning. Through this learning process, diversity will be explored in the clinical dyad, social context, and within child and adult developmental theory. See more information on Current Program Handbook. How to ApplyThe program welcomes applicants of various disciplines with an active Oregon license and professional liability insurance coverage. This program has rolling admissions with an application deadline of April 1st of the year the new cohort begins. The program is open to licensed mental health professionals of all disciplines, including psychiatry, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, and psychiatric nursing.
Graduates of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program receive certificates of completion. They are invited to apply to the PPP Faculty to be considered for teaching and supervision opportunities.
